Per farla finita col giudizio di Dio – Booming Festival – Bologna

The series is aimed at producing physical outputs starting from computational code. There is a necessity to develop the real, the tangible, to free it from the generative system from which it was formed. The hardware, a robot, the dynamics of imitation of the body and its replacement, becomes necessary in the construction of the idea and the work, considering the latter as a new inevitable medium to explore in an era where bodily extensions advance ever more dominantly.

“Per farla finita col giudizio di Dio” is an attempt to re-imagine the body. The body is a symbol: understood in the etymological sense of throwing together, of forcing various elements, aspects, activities, and functions into an irresolvable unity. It is the living character of the symbol that prevents its decomposition into parts. The prohibition of dismemberment allows the primary symbol to live, expand, and multiply into other symbols that man has created or discovered over the millennia. In the contemporary era, the dismembered body is no longer ordered by presence. The body, modified by technology, empties itself just as the contents of the Self, the mind, and the unconscious are emptied. Our identity becomes a simulacrum that has survived the model. Persisting in celebrating presence (being, actuality, the name) in what becomes, changes, and transforms is a brutal act of arrogance. The body is reborn from absence, from the void left by God or the father, from the precariousness of being, from an emptying of the Self. Marked by an ontological deprivation.

A production by the “Apulia Center for Art and Technology” in collaboration with Kuka and Massimo Ronchini.
